This week hasn't been great for me. =(

Got caught for my fridge... a really unlucky incident...
That's gonna really cost me a bomb...

Then today, we just celebrated our 30th Anniversary October babies birthday and cause I was sooo excited over a nice cake, it ended up some of them couldn't consume the cake. Thus, I decided it was only right for me to pay for 1 of them. Think that must be the most expensive slice of cake I've ever eaten. Haha...

Now... I'm really really broke and I don't want to trouble my parents anymore and so I'm on a "SAVE MONEY" mission. Gonna skip quite a bit of lunch dates and eat more home-made sandwiches from now on I think. Haha... But don't worry! I'll vary my diet with cereal and yoghurt! My fav!!! =D

Anyways, sorry this post sounds so sad but I just needed an outlet and I don't think many people read compared to facebook so I thought it'd be safer here as an outlet. Ah wells...

Well! Tomorrow will be a better day right! =D

Okie dokes!
Take care everyone!! =)

10th Oct - Strictly Pancakes

Made a reservation for this family outing to Strictly Pancakes on Fri for Sun 2.30pm but when we arrived on Sun at 2.20pm, they weren't ready for us at all! Haha. Wouldn't blame them for that though, good business then. Anyway, we got seated only at about 2.40pm, and decided our orders pretty quickly.

However, we ran into a few "ran out of" items. They told us they had run out of coffee only while we were placing out orders. So we had to redecide our orders. So instead of latte etc, my uncle and mum decided on iced tea thinking it was the brewed kind. My bro on the other hand wanted to order their "Beef-me up" only to be told they ran out of mushrooms, but he suggested replacing it with any sides and my bro chose bacon.

Waiting time for food was alright however, they had forgotten my Uncle's "bananas-scotched" order and we had to wait almost 20mins just for that which was rather disappointing cause the rest of us had to start eating first since some of us ordered their dessert pancakes.

Serving portion was alright, however, for the type of food I was eating, I found the price rather pricey. Anyhow, it was worth a try.

The overall ambiance was not bad and the service crew was quite polite. Sadly, it didn't leave me with the "I WANT TO GO BACK AGAIN" feel cause I found out while we were on the car that we were charged extra for the bacon that was supposed to be in replacement for the mushrooms. It was an additional $2.50!! And the iced tea turned out to be CANNED lemon tea. =X But, we did enjoy a 10% off total bill thanks to the student discount they offered, so guess that made things a little better? Haha...

Maple syrup and garlic butter

Chocolate peanut butter milkshake

Chicken Ala King

Apples and Cinnamon

What-a-spread!

Beef me up!

Strawberries & Co.

Bananas-scotched

So this ends our Strictly Pancakes outing. You could check up their website http://www.strictlypancakes.com.sg/index.html for more details on their menu. Their weekend breakfast look like its worth a try! =) Just a note: their weekend breakfast is only available till 12noon yeah! =)

Moving on, whilst on our way back to our grands, we drove past Rex theater and my uncle started reminiscing about the past! And he recalled that he and my mum used to go buy curry puffs from somewhere near there so we decided to turn into a street (not quite sure where myself) to take a look if it's still there and... it was!!!!

Here it is... still going strong after 35 year

It was pretty tasty! Haha... not sure of the price though but it was just amazing to have found someplace after sooooooo long! =)

Alrightie! Shall end off here... Going to have a feast again this Fri so be sure to look out for more photos ya! =D

7 Oct - Tiffin Room High Tea!

Alright... pictures first! =)

3-tier tea stand that was on every table

the first round of food... (apologies for the ugly model. hehe)

desserts!

desserts part 2! (sorry we were so greedy we finished eating before we took photo. haha.. there were 2 different bread and butter puddings fyi)

So here are some of the pics from that place. Wish I had taken more pics though. Anyhow, the food wasn't too bad, the dim sum was yummy =) The sandwiches were pretty mediocre, the desserts were pretty nice. Think their blackforest cake was lovely... but overall, not much variety but amazing filling!!!! Really ate till I was on the verge of puking .Haha... Anyhow, all in all, I think I still prefer the Bar & Billiard Room high tea when they were still serving it. Haha...

Gonna go try out Strictly Pancakes this Sunday if all goes well... WITH MY FAMILY!!! =D =D =D Can't wait. Hehehe...

Yups yups... so meanwhile, everybody take care and have a good weekend! =)

Time to continue on October Feast!! =D

4th Oct - Republic of Steak.

snapshot of their menu

Mushroom soup

Cowgirl Ribeye (sides: coleslaw & fries)

Grilled with with herb with asparagus sauce, sides: broccoli & mixed salad)

Chicken and sausage combo (sides: broccoli & garlic spaghetti)

Lava cake

Here's what we had for last night's dinner which was... disappointing.

Firstly, the food wasn't great, the taste wasn't very appetizing sadly. I mean its edible but I think I've tasted better elsewhere. Secondly, the portion was relatively small but that's relative I guess. Thirdly, the place was rather small so the noise was all contained within that small area so basically, ambiance was quite a turn off. Lastly, the service was lousy. Not that they were rude or whatsoever, but I think they were relatively slow and unattentive.

Oh, think I should mention the prices so you all can go and try if you really want to. Maybe the experience you'll get is different! hhaha...

Can't remember how much the ribeye was, my fish was $7.20, the chicken and sausage combo was 10.90. We added on a set which consisted of a drink, the soup and lava cake/brownie at 8.90. Not sure if there was service charge and gst cause I left slightly earlier. So yesterday's feast wasn't too great eh.. haa.. ah wells.. just glad we got to have a "Hungries" dinner together after soooooooooo long. hahaha...

Okie dokes! Will update again soon! Ciao!! =D

Helloooooo everyone!!

I'm finally back.. haha..
Decided to make a short post about my super happening week ahead and a little about the nice places that I've recently visited (to eat as usual). =D

So to start my October feast...
On Childrens' Day, my besties and I headed to Fruit Paradise to try out their lovely looking tarts and here they are! =D

Orange Banana Tiramisu (custard base)

Mango Banana (chocolate base)

Mango (cheese base)

So basically their tarts are built on 3 main types of base, and by base, I refer to that small layer of thing (not cream) just above the tart base (which is that dark brown thing). I think the chocolate base tasted the nicest so if you do try that place out, pick something with the chocolate base alright? haha... Didn't quite enjoy it on the whole though cause mine (mango) was made of like 70% cream as you can see from the picture. And I hate cream! Their tasteless and squishy! haha.. Plus, that place is kinda pricey. All the tarts you see above are $6.80 per slice.

They are having some tea time promotion now... not sure about the details but I think you can get any slice of tart and their tea/coffee at 9.80++.

On 2nd of October...
I dated my sis to...... OBOLO!!! =D

Milk-choc macademia

Noisette (voted as Strait's Times top 50 yummiest cakes in S'pore)

Obolo is located around Katong area, for more information about the place, just google Obolo! haha... Their website will definitely make you salivate. Hahaha!
Anyways, I happened to discover that shop after a short walk along Katong street that day and after looking at the newspaper articles and checking out their website, I told my sis I MUST try their Noisette and it was definitely worth the visit. =)

Although I must say for a cheapskate Auntie like me, paying $7.20++(due to g.s.t) was slightly above my ideal price for a slice of cake, I enjoyed it nonetheless. =)

My sister's choice was a cheesecake thingy, and it was quite nice with big whole macademia nuts in it. Her's was $7.20++ as well.

I think that shop's pretty known for their macroons cause the subsequent customers that came in bought macroons in like half a dozen at least!

Well... so I end my little October feast here for awhile... I'll be back with more foodie updates cause this week....

Mon - Republic of Steak!
Tues - Blk MAF
Wed - TIFFIN ROOM HIGH TEA!! WHEEEEEEEE
Thurs - Freshie's Supper! =D

So be sure to look out for more yummylicious pics eh! =D

Take care everyone and have a great week!! =)
